How to notarise a document: Notary public UK services

Like with many things in life until you need something, quite often you don’t know anything about it, where to look for it, what is does or how much it costs.

Several people we spoke too, who until they decided to get married abroad didn’t know what notaries did. So to help, we thought we would pencil down a few things to get people on their way.

What do they do:

A Notary is a person authorized to perform certain legal formalities, especially to draw up or certify contracts, deeds, and other documents for use in other jurisdictions. Also see: http://tlcuk.biz/support/frequently-asked-questions/faq-about-legalisation

Where to find one:

Whether you are looking for a notary public in Bristol or a notary public in London, you can always use TLC UK’s Notary register: http://tlcuk.biz/support/general-interest/uk-notaries

What is an apostille?

In short it’s an official certificate issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, authenticating a signature. Here’s a bit more: http://tlcuk.biz/support/frequently-asked-questions/faq-about-documents

How much does it cost?

You’ll have to speak directly with the Notary and prices will vary. If you are getting married abroad or looking to have business documents prepared for doing business abroad and notarisation is required, our prices will be bundled to include this service.

The whole process just follows a stepped plan to ensure your documents are country compliant.
