Getting married in Switzerland and all the questions concerning the legal paperwork need not be confusing. The whole process does however need to be done accurately and timing is essential to avoid any disappointments for your wedding day. That’s where TLC UK can really help. |

Please note that the above are national guidelines as issued by the Swiss Embassy. Sometimes, requirements for particular hotels/regions can differ or change from the national guidelines. We strongly recommend that you check with your travel agent or directly with the hotel or registry office to get final confirmation on the combination of legal documents you require for your ceremony.
How do I translate & legalise documents for my wedding in Switzerland?
Once the documents’ requirements are known for you and your partner to get married in Switzerland then comes the legalisation at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. This step of the process needs to be co-ordinated and planned carefully. Your documents of civil status (such as your Birth Certificate or Decree Absolute) will only need to be legalised if you are going to get married in the Canton of Vaud. All other Cantons only require Deed Polls and Certificates of No Impediment legalised by the FCO.
